| Grace & Robbie |
CHAPTER 3
At My Boss House
My boss drove in and parked his car and we came out. I pretend not to see her. My boss opened his car trunk box (boot), so I quickly brought out my luggage, the student foam, and the pillow that Solomon gave to me at the warehouse. I closed the car trunk box and stood in the compound like a confused person watching my boss and his wife including her, entering the house. I didn't know whether to join them or wait for their instructions, I looked around the beautiful well-decorated flowers planted near the building fences. Omg! This house is really beautiful, this is a duplex house ooo!, "Just as I was gazing at the building, My boss's wife turned back and saw me still standing near my luggage. Robbie? "My boss's wife called out," yes Ma! I replied her. Go inside your room, she instructed me as if I knew where my room is located. Ma please where is my room located? "I asked politely". Oh! Sorry, I forgot to tell you earlier, that is your room over there, she said pointing at the boys' quarter building inside the compound. Thank you Ma, I replied and began to take my belongings to the building.
After sweeping and mobbing up my room, I decided to stay indoors waiting for the next instruction from them. I brought out my phone and started chatting. Just then a message pops up from my ex-girlfriend's chat inbox.
Ex: Hi Robbie,
I snub her chat and went offline, I didn't mean to do so, but I did it because I was annoyed with her, because of how she hung up the call without my response before I began the journey to my boss's house. Honestly, I love my ex so much, even if she offends me, I don't take it seriously. She also loves me from my thinking and wouldn't want to lose me we agreed to be together before the break-up. My phone rang and it was my ex calling. I picked up my phone and was about to answer her call, a knock came on my door. So I cut the call and moved to the door to see who was knocking. I opened my door and couldn't imagine her standing before me at the door. (Do you know who am talking about?". Don't worry, I will tell you her name later). Your food is ready, come to the small parlor, she narrated, and leave at once. Thanks, "I echoed with lots of smiles on my face". I went back to my room confused at either calling my ex-girlfriend back or going for my meal. At last, I decided to go for my meal to call my ex-girlfriend after the meal.
I entered the small parlor and saw my meal already served on a small stool. I uncovered the food, wow! egusi soup and white soft fufu? Who told these people to cook my favorite meal? I questioned myself, so out of hunger and excitement, I quickly pray and started consuming the food without looking up. Two things were in my mind while eating the food. Firstly, I don't want her to see me and the size of my fufu ball rollings. Secondly, my mind always skips each time I see her. But I realized that there was no water with me while I was eating. I thought of what to do, whether to go and get water from the kitchen or to just be like that and die in silence. But honestly, the soup has much pepper in it, and if I don't drink water, hmmm! I will see hell when defecating. I decided to finish up my meal before going for the water. The door gently opened, my mind started beating fast, I pretend not to hear the door sound with my face focused on the food. Uncle my aunty sent me to give you this water, "the little voice sounded to my ear" I looked up and saw one of those kids I met at the warehouse. My mind returned. Thank you very much, I replied to the boy as he turns to go. Please come back, "I requested", and the boy turned and stood still. What is your name please, I asked the little boy. Chizurum Evan Okechukwu is my name, the boy responded with smiles on his face and left. Thank God she's not the one, I happily said to myself and packed the plate after the meal. The door opened again and this time around, she was the one. Shit! Here she comes again, I said within myself. Please don't bother, let me take it inside the kitchen, I hope you are satisfied with the meal, or should I bring more for you. She asked". I became dumb at the moment, not knowing what to reply. I imagined how sweet and romantic her voice was. You're not saying anything, okay am sorry to ask you, don't be offended please, she said again and turned to go, I held her by her right arm and she stopped, please what is your name? I asked gently, she looked at me eyeball to the ball. Grace is my name. She responded and left. Grace? What a lovely name. I muttered within myself and sat back on the cushion.
I went back to my room after resting from my meal and picked up my phone to call back my ex-girlfriend. The phone rang three times without an answer, so I went online to chat, I realized she was online. Then I responded to her earlier message on my chat inbox.
Me: Hi
She snubbed me as well and put off her chat green light. I knew she was online because there's a group we both were in and she was still responding to chats in the group. I called her again two times, and she picked up the last call.
Ex: what is it?
Me: please calm down, I know you're upset with me and so I was with you earlier, but hear me out, please.
Ex: did I offend you earlier?
Me: yes! But never mind,
Ex: no, I needed explanations, what did I do to you, Robbie? Tell me so that I won't do so again.
Me: ok, it's because of how you spoke to me the other day when you were provoked by your mum. And when you called me earlier today, you hang up without my response.
Ex: Robbie please am sorry it wasn't intentional, my airtime finished at that moment. That's why they call hang up. Am also sorry for how I reacted badly to you out of provocation. I won't do so again, please
Me: "Just then My heart melted, and I felt sorry for what I thought about her going to Chiboy earlier." It's okay dear, am sorry for snubbing your chat earlier, although when you called this evening, it wasn't my intention to cut the call. I went to take my dinner.
Ex: so what did you eat?
Me: my favorite meal naa, I hope you have taken your dinner as well.
Ex: wow, that's nice. Yes, I did so a few minutes ago.
Me: alright, are you still angry at me?
Ex: No! am not.
Me: Thanks, dear.
Ex: you're welcome.
Me: I will chat with you tomorrow, I want to log off. Good night.
Ex: Okay Robbie, sweet dreams.
The chat ended up good. I logged off and lie on my bad facing my head upwards. The sweet voice sounded in my mind again, "Grace is my name" it continue echoing loud in my head, I began to imagine the look on her face when she looked at me eyeball to eyeball before saying her name. I slept off with the thought.
NB: I know you will be surprised that I am calling her my ex-girlfriend, whereas we are still together.
Yes, that is because we haven't broken up our relationship but still having misunderstandings with ourselves.
Chiboy and Grace have entered our relationship, wahala dey ooo!
Hmmm just continue following up the story.
